After reportedly sneaking off the old Air Force One in a catering truck due to a credible threat
transferring to a secret military jet, and flying separately to the UK, Trump somehow ended up back on the exact same old Air Force One he’d secretly left behind. Cameras captured him disembarking from it at Mildenhall Air Base, descending the same external stairs, in full view of the same press pool that had unknowingly been used as decoys the entire time. Nobody, including the Washington Post reporters who broke the story, has explained how Trump got from the secret plane back onto the old one before it landed. Reporters on the ground pressed him directly, asking about the security concern and why they’d been told to close their window shades, something press pools are almost never asked to do. Trump brushed it off, insisting there was no security issue at all, then in nearly the same breath acknowledged the plane switch happened because of “sleazebags” the country has to deal with. It’s a level of secrecy and contradiction that would be treated as a five alarm scandal under almost any other president. Deceiving the press pool, unexplained aircraft swaps, denying a threat existed while implying one did, and a mystery reappearance nobody can account for. If this had happened under Biden, it would have dominated cable news for a week straight.
